High School Teachers for Head Start & Children’s Services

Provide preschool children at the local Head Start center with a nurturing, safe and healthy environment and individualized learning experiences to help them develop socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally in achieving social competency. Plan and implement the Education Component objectives of the Head Start Performance Standards. Provide a balance between quiet and active learning activities. Help children gain independence and autonomy in eating, toileting, dressing and hygiene through age appropriate and manageable tasks. Develop activities and strategies to engage parents in the educational aspects of the program in order to improve their understanding of child development and facilitate their role as the principal influence in their child’s education. Attends meetings as necessary. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time. 

Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, with nine months of relevant experience required. Must be EEC Preschool Teacher qualified. Degree in related field requires a minimum of six courses related to early childhood education that focus on child development, early childhood education and curriculum, early childhood teaching and assessment, psychology, family development, health and physical development, mathematics, science or children’s literature. Good interpersonal skills required. Must be able to work cooperatively as a member of a teaching team, with program staff and with parents. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a professional manner required. Bilingual in a language spoken by families served by ABCD preferred. Must be able to engage in physical activities while attending to the needs of the center’s preschool children and/or while moving classroom equipment. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

Xaverian Brothers High School Summer Programs

Xaverian Brothers High School summer programs provide participants the exciting opportunity to make the most of their summer. Xaverian offers clinics and workshops for boys and girls in Grades 4 through 12. Each week offers various clinics and workshops for both the morning and afternoon. Families can take advantage of our unique schedule and create a half or full day of learning, friendship, and leadership skills. All students in Grades 4-9 participating in both a workshop and an athletic clinic during at least one of the weeks from July 10 - 27 will be able to take advantage of a full well-rounded day at Xaverian. All summer programs are run by Xaverian teachers and coaches, as well as several Ursuline Academy coaches. A wide variety of programs are available. The Little Sisters of the Poor
